If you are running a MySQL replication setup – like we do – you probably want to monitor the state of your replication automatically. We use the Percona Toolkit for that and today they have released a new version of it:
directly from Percona.
For those, who are not familiar with the toolset: it is basically a great set of Perl scripts to automate a lot of MySQL tasks, you would normally code and create yourself over time. Percona did the work for you already (heartbeat, monitoring, table dumps, replication check and fixing, etc.) and all you need are some Perl modules installed on Linux to get the most of it!
